  5. I was in the service battery at the worst of the eighty worst.between 1970 and 1971. Probably the best day I had was the last day I was there. On that day I knew I’d be gone the following day. But I did make some real good friends and if any of them are reading this, please write me an email or call me at 7026459120. NO LIFERS PLEASE. I’m really interested in finding Percey, George, Ed, Greg, Poncho Peter and any else at that stinkin place that I knew and maybe forgot about. I live in Las Vegas and I guess I’m doing ok. Looking forward to hearing from any of you. Come by and see me sometime. We,ll have a drink to our luck………..Mike

Good news for you …Wiley is gone (sort of) our barracks are gone but some of the buildings are still there (gym, dispensary, chapel, EM club and our guardhouse at the main gate. The BOQs and the other sidde of the post are mainly intact. I heard from bearmeat a few years ago but have lost contact again. Haven’t heard from hany of the guys you listed or Ray Crabtree. • Hey Greg, good hearing from you. Are you still playing that blues harp. Hope everything’s goin well for you. Been a long time huh? If it wasn’t for guys like you to be hanging out with, I know I would have lost it. Damn I hated that place, with all their bs rules. That was a long long two years. I sure hope everyones alright. I was at a rock concert in Indiana, that was billed as another woodstock, it wasn’t, and I ran into two guys from an Irish neighborhood in Chicago we ran around with. Their last names were Shannon and Mcaw. That was back in 72 or 73. Those are the only guys I ran into since I’ve been back. Keep in touch old friend…..gamboa

    • Mike,
i’m still playing the blues harp and not making any money at it :) , but I aqm better than I wa back then. I go to Harley rallies and jam with whatever band will let me on stage. I have a couple of gigs coming up in Germany in July. I am retired now so it is like summer vacation. I have a daugher that is married and living in Vegas so I do get out there from time to time.I remember Shannon and Mccaw and I think I ran into them in Chicago (where I’m from). Remember staying in the appartment near Karlsplatz? I have one or two pics of that (I won’t publish here). Gotta go, it’s a quarter to four. Greg

  6. My dad, Billy Lee Humphreys was stationed at Wiley Barracks 1972-1976 he was a forklift operator and front end loader operator. He passed away in 2006. My search for my brother led me to this site and these logs. My dad fathered a child in Neu-Ulm with a woman named Gudrun. I am hoping that someone will see this that might remember my dad and maybe even the situation that I am describing. A shot in the dark I’m sure but if anyone remembers him, please e-mail me at jessicarobinette24@gmail.com. Thanks!! :)

  13. ENGINEERS LEAD THE WAY…Co. D 1st Engineer Bn, Neu Ulm, Wiley Kaserne…. Hello my fellow Veterans, are there any Delta Engineers from Wiley Barracks out there? I served with the Delta Engineers which provided specialized service’s and were assigned to the 2/33 rd Field Artillery. I had the honor to serve with my Engineer Brothers from Jan. 1976 to Aug. 1979 (ETS). Shortly after my ETS from stateside I returned to Ulm, Wiley Kaserne (Barracks) and found GS employment at the Outddoor Recreation Center located down by the Rod and Gun store and Bunker area. Worked as an Ski Technician, Ski Instructor and an Windsurf Instructor until 1984 then returned back home to California. In 2010 I relocated back to Ulm, Germany for a year to give it another shot at livin there, but to many changes since leaving there in 1984 and many month long vacations in Ulm. The past memories were so much better. The people, the Fun and the many great Bars. Some of the same local Bars are still operating under there original names, such as Capo’s, Wiley Club still has the original wooden dance floor with the big round disco mirror ball. But Wiley has TOTALLY changed. If there is anyone out there that thinks they might know me or do know me. My e-mail is goyankees.rr@gmail.com, or Cell Ph# 916-745-9328 Rick

Their were 4 other D companys that were to be sent to Ft Hood in August 1968. A new signal battalion was being formed. 366th signal

Anyone who served with me at that time would like a response. jimcurtis44@yahoo.com

  15. I was with the 3rd platoon delta battery from Dec 1969 until July 1971. I drove d309 when I rotated out of country. I was on the launch team that broke the all time low score of 3. I still have not got my pocket rocket. Be nice to hear from some of the guys from back in the day.

    • I knew an Anderson whose picture I see posted here in there from Delta Battery. He is standing alongside a deuce and half alongside the perimeter fence by the motorpool. I was with Charlie Battery, Commo Platoon. This particular Anderson served with me at Ft. Sill in Oklahoma. We graduated in Dec. 1969. Let me know if you recall. Can’t place his first though, though his face is very familiar. Huff was one of our instructors at Ft. Still and Bergman was one of the students at that time.

    • Hope you are the same Anderson I knew from Fort Sill in the Winter of 69. Arrived in Germany in Jan 1970 and left in June 1971. Another graudate at that time from Sill was Carl Bergman from Chicago who graduated with us. He was with A Battery at Wiley as a 31D20 Trac-80 Operator also.

  16. Stationed at Wiley late-1978 to mid-1981, 2/33 FA
