  1. I was stationed in Wharton Barracks from Nov 1977- Mar 1982. I belonged to the 26 the Sig BN as a 72 E20. I was also discharged from Wharton and took a job with AAFES, Stugart. To make a long story short I did not return home until Nov 1997.

  2. Hello All,

I was with B Co, 44th Sig Bn, from 1988-1990. What a great time, it amazes me how many different units have passed through Wharton Barracks over the years.

    Matt

  3. The church by the front gate, and one building from 26 Signal are all that remain. All of Lower housing housing was demolished. Universitat Heilbronn now occupies what was once the 237th Eng. Bn. part of the Kaserne. Latashas Imbiss next to the PUF, still reigns supreme for a 3 in the morning halb Henchen, with a 0330 flyby at aforementioned PUF! Call it what you want, but AREA 5, is forever AREA 5. Redleg is gone, but the stone remains for 3 who died there to protect. I had the GREAT pleasure of living in the town of Heilbronn 3 times for 3 years each time between 77 and 91, trust me She as well as the whole region, is one of the worlds best kept secrets! Hafen Sie Guten Tag!! Christopher
