I was stationed in Bamberg from Oct61 thru Nov62. Is this Warner Barracks at the same location as the post was in 62?? Will be visiting Bamberg in Aug and I wanted to see if I could visit the base to rekindle some old memories…Got to Bamberg because of the Bradenburg gate closing in Berlin and left during the missle crisis in Cuba.
So far nothing has changed. Warner Barracks is still located in Zollnerstraße. But it will definitely be closed by 2015. Enjoy your stay in Bamberg, especially the old part of that lovely town.
The official site of Warner Barracks for contact information: http://www.bamberg.army.mil

Hey all! I was stationed twice in Bamberg. HHB, 1/75th Company supply and S-4 from 73-76. Came back again for 3 more 78-80 S4, 2/2 ACR. Worked TA-50 then as Property Book NCO. Guys from other units used to come to my CIF to DX their field gear cuz their own units were out. I enjoyed helping them. It’s crazy, but I was always happy to leave and then just a short while later wished I was back. I remember alot of name of friends but haven’t found any of them on the net. Does anyone remember E5 Mike Chaney or Cheney? Would like to contact him if you could help. I liked Rudy’s schnitzel sandwiches right outside the gate at Warner Barracks III, by the RPC. to the delightful residents, of one of the most beautiful, and
memorable small cities in the world…
Stationed with Co B 2nd Battle Group 4th Infantry August 1959 in 1961 signed on with LRRP stationed at Daley Barrecks in Bad Kissigen, rotated back to the states in March 1962, if any one has any info on these units please reply.
I was stationed in Bamberg with the 1st of the 54th in 1969-1970. First in Charlie Company and then in HQ as Battalion mail clerk. I grew up in Southern Illinois and attended Southern Illinois University between 1967-1973, with 2 years in between in the Army. I have lived in Denver, Co since 1978.
