Hi Tim,
Not sure you remember me,I was at the Bach 1977-1979. Can you tell
me what happened to our little buddy Tony Hetzel. It broke my heart to hear
he was killed.
I / we have the opportunity to take pictures .. In the
U.S. side, much has remained as 1991.viele buildings were completed in 1991 and since then never had anyone in it.I’m still waiting on two former, and then we are responsible pictures. The
German officials go into it with us.

I was in the 525th and was stationed there from 80 to 83 and loved it. I didn’t even get a paycheck for the first year I was there and still loved it.They sound familiar but can’t place them. You probably remember my ex-husband Scott Taylor. My name was Whittaker at the time. Do you remember the name of that Guest house right outside the post?
How are you? It’s been a long time. Shoot me an email to my address and I can fill you in on my contacts over the last 35 years. I’ve been in touch with Mike Lombardo (who had an encounter with John Puffer years ago in Rochester NY) and Lou Koehler (within the last 5 years). I actually went to a Tower Rat reunion in Gettysburg, PA with Lou about 4 or 5 years ago. If you haven’t checked out this site by now, you are in for a trip back through time….”towerrat.com”. Up until the mid to late ’80s, I was in contact with Keith “Bootie” Doyle and Tom Bush. I can tell you about them as well. I hope all is well with you. — Kevin
Hey Tugger, I’m doing ok, I coach high school football and baseball. Been married 3 times and paying dearly for it. I live about 10 miles outside of Tucson. I actually miss some of the tower rats, and had some good times in the Bach. How are you doing? Give me a recap of everything.
Looking for Emily Hayes that was there with the 556th. I see you posted before but was hoping you would check and see. My email is armympinfantry@yahoo.com
Hi Gary, the last I talked to Mike Oates, he was undercover with the NYPD. My wife and I had dinner with Jon Wolfe and his wife a few years back. He is a pastor at a church in southeaster Minnesota. He is still the same ol Wolfee! I was sorry to hear about Buzz. I got an email thru Towerrat.com from Charlie Peters and he told me about it. Haven’t heard anything from him since. Have you ever heard anything from MacDowell or any of the other guys in 1st plt? Take care Later—Mark
Hey Mark, great to hear from you. I have been too busy to visit this site very often. Hopefully that will change soon. I will retire from the Dept. of Justice on May 31st of this year. I will continue to teach at the college part time. I remember Mike talking about wanting to work for the NYPD while he was at the “bach.” I’m glad he followed his dream. I can see Jon as a preacher. I am happy for him. I heard that Throckmorton retired from the post office a couple of years ago. I am amazed that they kept him so long.LOL I have never heard from MacDowell. I have drove near his town a few times and attempted to look him up but couldn’t fine him. I have also seen Perdue a couple of times. I ran into his sister when I was visiting my mom a couple of years ago in Pensacola. She gave me his phone number and I talked to him for a while. He lives outside of Chicago. He got out of the army and then went back and retired. When I was talking to him he was going through a divorce. I think he has a couple of teenage kids? He is working security for some large corporation. If you hear from anyone let me know.
HI Gary, Good to here from you again. I, too, don’t get to check this out very often. I am postmaster in browns Valley MN and live just across the border in South Dakota where I also farm. Only have a couple years left in the Post Office til I retire and will be glad. My son was in the Army and was stationed in Germany for a while about 5 years ago. He stopped by Seiglesbach to look it over–sounded like it was pretty much closed up. I heard from MacDaniel on Towerrat.com, but haven’t heard from him for a long time. What part of Florida are you at? I’ve travelled that way a couple times-mostly Orlando south to Keys. Wish we could get that 1st platoon group together from the 74-76 era! Take care Later Mark
I served in the Assembly Platoon ’68 through ’70, then was transferred to Massweiler outside of Pirmasens. My knicknames were “The Kalu” and “der Totengraber.” Base commanders included Major Abrhamson and Horace D. Verry. I remember the base, the surrounding area, the Wermacht ruins and rail sidings, the work and the people very well. We now live in the northern Chicago suburbs just south of the Wisconsin border.
I was stationed at the Bach from 1978 thru 1982 525th ord, great times made alot good friends. What i remember the most is Andys getting hammer wow. great times.

i was stationed there between 72-73 with the 525th worked commo for awhile until going to orderly room. most the guys i recall all had nicknames like moses, damm, ota. if any one recalls me feel free to write back.
Hey, I was stationed there with 556th MP Co from Feb 1991 until the units deactivated in 92. I worked in the motor pool as well with SSG Williamson, SGT Haynes, SGT Golson, SGT Ridley, SGT Beckum, SGT Smith, SPC Rentos, SPC Hopkins, SPC Bell. Man, what a crew. It was my first duty station and probably the most memorable.
Out of curiosity I was wondering if the place stil existed ? I was there from 55 thru 59 and I was a bartender for awhile at the club. My function was a movement supervisor. Mostly missles at that time.
FYI, the depot is still there, but closed and has been for years. All grown over with trees and weeds. The site itself has solar panels on it now, but if needed, looks like you could fire it back up.
I was with the 525th Ordnance as part of the HQ platoon, working in Commo in 65 & 66. I remember going into the EM club a lot, but don’t remember ever leaving it. Himmm….
Hey! i was at siegelsbach back in 87 & 86-525th ord., worked there in the circle, I really do miss it, and i do remember going to the EM club a lot too, and not remember leaving sometimes…lol…but we had a blast there & went to the Roman ruins as well for concerts–I must have walked from heilbronn to siegelsbach i don’t know how many times???I live in Tennessee now, and my daughters live in georgia …We went down to the ruins across from the gym there & explored those underground bunkers–It was pretty cool-Remember the military police dogs too!! Write if you want-happy to talk to a fellow military person from there!
Hey,
I was there during much of the same time (01/1974-08-1976) with the 556 MP Company (Tower Rats). Do you remember Rosie’s? By the way, I happen to live in Thomasville, Ga.
Hey Garry, I was there with you in 1st platoon back in 75 &76. I’ve visited with Wolff-had dinner with him a few years ago. If I remember correctly, your room in the barracks was on the end accross from Buzz Berards. I live by Sisseton South Dakota. Have a farm there and also am Postmaster at Browns Valley MN. which is just a few miles away. Take care–Later Mark Schaunaman
Hey Mark, good to hear from you. Yes, my room was down at the end of the hall across from Buzz’s. And you were orginally from Browns Valley, correct? You shared a room with Michael Oats. Have you heard from him? I’m sad to say I heard that Buzz died several years ago, from cancer I think. He had retired from the police department in his home town and was running a driving school that he had started. How was John Wolffe?
Hi gary, I haven’t talked to Mike Oates in alot of years.. Last I did, he was undercover with NYPD. Jon Wolff is doin good. He is in southeastern Minnesota and is pastor at a church there. My wife and I had supper with he and his wife a few years back. Same ol Wolfee!! I had lunch with Kevin Rohrer a year or so ago–he was in 3rd platoon. He and I got to the bach at the same time. We had been in basic and AIT together too. Have you ever heard from McDowell or others? I had heard about Buzz–got an email thru Towerrat.com from Charlie Peters. Haven’t heard from him since, though. Take care and keep in touch! later—Mark
I was stationed at the Bach from January 1974- April 1979. I worked at the supply room and Tech Supply for the 525th ord Co. I still have contact with Blaine Hawks, Tim Huffman and James Went. The best bros ever!!! When I got out of the Army, I stayed in Germany til 1993. Have been living in Georgia since then. Would love to hear again from others from that time period. My dream would be that someday I would be allowed to walk the streets of the Bach again. Oh the memories!!!

Did you know Sgt. Taylor also known as “T”? He rode a White BMW Motorcycle. The first motorcycle he had, a Blue 1977 Suzuki 750 was damaged when he got hit by a truck. I was at the Bach from 1977 to 1980 with the 556. Sgt. Taylor turned out to be a great friend of mine but I lost track of him. He married a German girl. Does it ring a bell?
