  10. Hi everyone….my name is Jed Davis….I was a SP5 at Reese (first with the 29th Postal Detachment, and then with HQ 17thFA) from Oct 82 to Sept 85…have very fond memories of my time there and enjoyed every minute. I ETS’d from there, but at one time was contemplating staying on as a civil service employee. Not a day goes by that I don’t regret not doing it. I am seriously considering moving back to the Augsburg area…..any suggestions?….would also consider other places in Germany…\

    • Hi Jed. I was with the 29th Postal Detachment from January 1985 to November, 1986 (my 1st tour of duty). We actually had 5 rooms on the 3rd floor of the building were the 17th lived which is where I stayed. Augsburg was a great place to live. Lots of good times!! Beerfests and being young. I wish I could go back. Thanks for letting me re-live it all even for just a moment….

  12. Not at Reese, but know it well. I was stationed at Sheridan Kaserne 75 to 78. Really enjoyed the whole area. Great times and great memories. Yes, I was Armor. There was a little Guest House out side the gate called the Last Chance..Remember it well.. Hello to all who were there. Heard they torn it down in 2007 (Sheridan)…

  13. Was stationed at Reese Kaserne 1/36th FA HQ Battery. MOS:O5C RTT Operator. Germans thought the Green boxes on the back of our gama-goats were Beer coolers . . .Lots of time in the field, lots of friends I would love to catch up with.

    • I was 1/36th at Reese also. 70 till 72. What years were you there. I went to Lengrees Germany to attend RTT school, but was mostly on a gun in a gun battery. I had a volkswagen, and got around mucho! Had many great times being 18 19 and 20 years old while there as I recall. I felt a bit out of place upon my return. Very few could relate to all I’d seen, and lived!
Write me back with the dates or years you were there.
Sometimes I Google map it and look Reese over a bit….There was even a youtube of some nut driving with the camera on his dashboard round and round the Kasern. I try and remember all of his trip as filmed. Some things I remember in my head, but don’ recognize from his youtube. Anyway, nice reliving some of this.
      Good luck. email me back.

    • I got to Augsburg, Reese in Dec of 69. I remember this well because I celebrated New years 12 o’clock by standing in a window of my friends room, and urinated out of it at that hour. I said I was urinating in the New Year, but what was really moving for me was that it was a new decade, and I was in a new country. I was different then, of course. I was still 18.
I was stationed in C battery, and I was relieving myself toward that street that ran in front of our kasern…I forget the name, but you would cross it to go to the American Hotel….you know it well, I’m sure
Yes B battery was next to the mess hall. I got there just as you left I guess. I remember that Dec. when I got into the barracks was seriously cold..even for me who grew up in New York/ New Jersey. I have lived in Texas now sence I moved here in 1978. The night I got to my unit, I had to go searching for a footlocker..there were 2 different types. One type was better made that the other type. I got a good one, and when it came time to Ets, 20 months later, I used the Apo…remember that one? Army Post Office, to ship my footlocker to my Mom and Dad’s house in New Jersey. I still have it and store some things in it. I have it with me here in Texas.
Email me back I was with the 1st/36th Arty.
