  1. fellow ex-tuskers, I was stationed in a-berg from 1971-1976. I started my tour as a truck driver and later became the ammo sgt. which tells you that I was in hq. co. I acyually married a woman named Karen dietze, she worked several bars in a-berg..i live in rhode island ,would lopve to communicate about days past.

  2. Hey everyone! I was stationed in Würzburg before I got transferred to Aschaffenburg and worked on Ready Kaserne in the communications center. I don’t remember exact dates anymore. But I arrived in Würzburg and worked at the communication center on Leighton Kaserne in January ’84. I was transferred mid ’85 to Jäger Kaserne in Aschaffenburg. I was a detachment of 261st Signal Corp. based in Hanau.

  3. i was stationed at READY FROM 1977 TO 1980. i WAS IN HHC 3RD BDE 3D ID. I WAS IN SUPPLY SECTION. I KNEW PAUL SHANKS , MARK EASTERDAY AND BILL EDE AS WE WERE ALL LDS. I REMEMBER WHEN THE BDE COL GREANS JEEP WAS RAN OVER MY SP4 MATRIX WITH THE BRIDGE TANK, SP4 CHURCHILL THE JEEP DRIVER WAS MEDICALLY DISCHARGED A YEAR LATER. I REMMBER THE ALERTS AT 300 IN THE MORNING. IT WAS SORT OF FUN WATCHING THE DRUNKS BEING DRUG OUT OF THE BARS TO MAN THERE VECHILES. I REMEMBER SP4 VISOCKY IN MY SECTION GETTING KILLED IN A CAR ACCIDENT . REST IN PEACE.

  4. i was in hhc 3rd bde from 1977 to 1980. unit supply clerk. also ran arms room for a while. I was associated with the LDS church branch met on Jager kaserne, I drove a jeep . The brigade commander Col Grean jeep was ran crushed by the bridge tank at the Holenfels traing area. Capt Peterson HHC company commander gave him a toy tank at christmas party as Capt Peterson was armor and the Col., was Infantry. We lost a member of the supply section in an early morning car accident. SP4 Vicsocky was his name. REST IN PEACE. That same week an 1of 7 th Sp4 killed a german girl by accident with his car. As we were going to the memorial the Germans were going to there memorial we all felt bad. Did you ever get your own gas truck? The chaplains got a new jeep as they always had to borrow one as they never had one . The Brigade Col traded his used replacement jeep for theirs . REALLY GOOD TIME

  6. I really would like to hear from anyone who lived in Ready Kaserne, C-Company from 1963 to 1966.MT

    • Was at Ready with B company (later with HHQ) 4 / 64th Armor, May ’66 to May ’69.

    • Hi Mike,I was in the 4/64 at ready from 64-67.I was batallion exo driver (Maj Dyment) for a short time.Col.Mueller was the Bat Commander.I later moved to B company where I drove the supply truck(Bravo 4).I worked with guys like Sgt Adams,Spec 5 Lynten,Grandy,Richter,White,Stubberfield,Malcurren and others. It was a real privalege to work with Col Mueller,he was a real soldier, officer and gentleman.

    • Hey Mike,
As you know, we were both at Ready when it was 1st the 2nd Bn, 7th Inf before being changed to the 4th Bn, 64th Armor of the 3rd Inf Div, which was activated May of 1966. I left just after that. I was at Ready from (Nov 1963 to Jun1966).

Fred Graham, if you’re on Facebook, check out the Aschaffenburg Military Community.

    • Fred Graham,
Since you were a driver at Battalion, did you know Major Ronald W Jones?

    • I was with C Company 3rd platoon 2nd Bn 7th Inf. at Ready from Oct 64 until June 1966. Capt. D. Mack was the CO and J. Price was the 1st Sgt. I also spent about a month in the summer of 1965 with the Davy Crockett section at the HQ Company, but I didn’t like all the classroom work there and I missed my friends back at Charlie Co. so I went back. I left Germany on a levy in June 1966 for Ft Campbell, KY. About 5-6 months later myself and another friend from C Co., Jack Hoisington ran into 1st Sgt. Price at Ft. Benning, GA. I believe that by then he was a SGM, I remember that he was very happy to see two of his boys again. Does anyone have in their possesion a small yearbook (similar to a middle school yearbook) of the 2nd Bn 7th Inf. that was put out in the spring/ summer of 1965. Thanks, Ben A.

    • Ben Alvarado,
Are you on Facebook? If so, check Aschaffenburg Military Community. I just posted some photos there of the Armed Forces Day parade in 1965 that I received from my former CO. Also, I’ll ask my former CO about the that yearbook you wrote about.

    • Rick Kreiner, No I am not on Facebook but I am going to get my son to check it out for me. I noticed that we both left Germany in June of 1966. I remember that when I was processing out they told us that we were going to be among the first ones to fly back stateside. I flew back on Pan American Airlines out of Frankfurt in early June. While already seated, they made an announcement that because there were no civilians on board they were going to open up the 1st class section, and they were going to do it alphabetically (yay). I believe that they got as far as the B’s. I also remember that when guys got to Germany one was always asked where you were from, and what ship you came on. I arrived on the Buckner. On my last post I forgot to mention that my Platoon Sgt. was SSG Ralph Medley (from Alabama) probably the best and nicest NCO I served under.

    • Ben Alvarado, Yep, I arrived in Germany on the USS Patch, but when I flew back to the states, I flew back on a MAC flight out of Frankfurt… no 1st class for me, but a bunch of noise..!
Did your son check out the Aschaffenburg Military Community? If you do get on Facebook, I also have 4 sets of photos of Aschaffenburg and Rothenburg taken in Sep/Oct 2011.

    • Hi my dad (sgt. Watkins) was stationed at ready in aburg, my family lived there from 1983 to 1988. My mom worked on Feory(forgive my spelling) at the AAFES snak bar.

  9. Trying to find a Dan or Don Michelle who was in the Ready Barracks in Aschaffenburg in or around 1960 and 1961.
He used to play the song my Diane Washington . . :”What a difference a day makes”.
    Anyone know this man?

  10. I was stationed at ready barracks from 1989-1990. I was a Platoon Sgt. for A Co. and C Co.. While in Charley Co. My LT. Submited a huge binder of photos of our company’s trainning and etc. for the Ishner Award. We won the award and was the first Combat Engineering Company ever to win it in the history of the Army. The Army had an Air Force Jet fly over for our Company during the presentation of the Ishner Award. My House burned to the ground a couple of years ago and I lost every single picture I had of those times. I’ve been searching for any pictures that I might be able to get of the Kaserne and the Soldiers who were there with me. I’d also like any info. on how to track down that award and photos. Thanks, SSG Victor Cousins
