Hello, my name is Chris and I’m desperately looking for my grandfather who served for the army in Augsburg and as I love the United States so much I would really like to know who my ancestors were. I was told that his name is Bill Haley from Texas (I don’t know the exact spelling of his name) and he was in Augsburg between 1960 and 1965. (unfortunately I don’t know the exact year either but my dad was born 1962 so I think it should be correct) Does one of you maybe knew him ? Or if not, maybe you have some suggestions for me where I can ask to find him ? Unfortunately I don’t have more information and I’m not very sure if everything is correct that I know because the relationship with the people who know more is very bad. I would appreciate if one of you can help me respectively if one of you has some information or clues where I can ask to find him. Thank you very much for you’re efforts. Take care, Chris

I was OIC of the Dental Clinic in Bad Nauheim from 1964-66. My unit primarily served Ray Barracks. We were in the old Carlton Hotel about which there are many strange stories; all true! The floor below the dental clinic was an American Youth Activity center. The floor above the clinic housed a number of VERY friendly young women. Anyone with knowledge about this strange situation and especially photos, please write. I am considering writing a book about this fascinating place.
I was a dependent that lived in the Bad Nauheim Housing Area 1959 – 1962. I went to 6,7 and 8 grade. I do remember the AYA being in a hotel in downtown and went to the dental clinic on the 2nd floor. Being only 11 to 13 years old did not get to the AYA often. We did go to the lake and park and in the winter time went to the ice rink. Played ice hockey with the German Kids. Elvis Presley was station in Friedberg at that time and his father lived in Bad Nauheim. King of Saudi Arabia came to Bad Nauheim and they closed the PX to everyone and he wiped out the place. He also walked the streets and passed out diamonds. I was too young to know about the ladies on the 3rd floor, but would bet they got some diamonds.. I ended up Graduating from Nurnberg American High School in 1966. I returned to the school about 5 years ago. Now a German School..
