After a couple months I was assigned to the 72nd field Artillery Band at Wertheim as a drummer/percussionist.
I had a group called the rock-n-kings consisting of military and civilian musicians. We toured various bases and German clubs/festivals “New Faces Of 59″

I was at Peden Barrack from May 1964 to Jan 1965 flying the old Sikorsky H-34s. I lived in the officers club upstairs for a few months and then moved to a small village 4 or 5 miles down the Tauber. Can’t remember the name. It was my first posting, my first time to Europe and Germany and it was a magical time. The town was such that you didn’t feel like you were at a military installation, you could be as “German” or local as you wanted to be. I used to rent the paddle boats at the hotel by the bridge.
I loved the place, have been back about three times. Still love it.
I was with the 3rd Avn Div. blue and white striped square patch on the shoulder.
