  2. k ` town is my home town and i went to those club do you remember the 49er club i live in killeen Tx now

  3. I grew up in Kaiserslautern from 1966- 1985 when I married and moved to the states. My father retired from the army in the 1970′s and my parents still live there. A day hardly goes by without thinking of K town. We new a lot of people from Panzer,Kleber, Vogelweh, Ramstein etc. I used to go to the Capri Club, the Wagon Wheel, the Kazabra club at Vogelweh , and the High life club in K town. Would love to hear from folks that were there from oh say 1979-1985.. scor0156@yahoo.com

  4. I was with the Garrison unit at Panzer in 66 & 67, worked in Vogelweh and rode the bus to work, I was back in K Town for the 1st time about 5 years ago and I guess because of 911 you can’t get close to anything. All of Vogelweh seems to be Air Force now. It was better duty than the alternatives.

  5. At Panzer Kaserne from April 1963 to Aug 1965- a small signal repair detachment.
Does anybody remember Pops just outside the Kaserne

    • Yes, quite an improvement over everyday mess hall food. Never did like BBK beer much but drank a ton of it.

    • Arrived Panzer Kaserne 03/68 and departed 09/69. member of the 45th Finance Section. Popps was an oasis!

  6. I was there with F TROOP 3RD ARM CAV K-TOWN 1961 TO 1962

Still have fond memories of K’town, NCO club, Vogelweh, American Legion, etc, etc. Want to go back but I’m getting old.

  11. Does any one remember the 7812 SCU {Station Compliment Unit}. Det. C. stationed in Pirmasens, 1951 & 1952.

    • Jack — I was stationed there w/ the 7778 sig svc co on TDY from 1/52 – 9/52
I knew a Rolf von Wicklund-Storm…from the 7812 SCU– will always remember that name….also knew MSGT Bill Panda a great guy. I was housed in the Banana Bldg ….There was one other guy from Ohio, but; have forgetten his name….enjoyed some super times in Pirmasens — returned there in ’89 and it had really changed…tried to woo the 7812 C/O’s secretary (Gudren) but; she blew me off for some married dude, he told her, he was single ;-) …returned to 7778 HQ in K’town 9/52 till 12/53

  12. I was with JAGC, Panzer Kaserne, WACOM from May 1957 to May 1958. Looking for those who may have been there around that time

    • Hey Paul ! You and I must have crossed paths just before you left Panzer. I was in Personnel when you were in JAG. Rode a Vespa scooter. Did you live in the barracks? Remember Delozier, the armorer who fired the salute gun each morning? Where you the guy who stuffed it with toilet paper and scared the *&&%#@ out of the Germans when it went, flaming, over the hiway? Remember Annie at the PX? Riding the back of the gravel trucks after a snow fall? Mike Guelph, Charlie Hanson, Sgt Agustino, the sawed off LTC who was Hq. Commandant, First Sgt Marks?
      Hope your life is good.

    • Hi, Robert,

Thanks for your response, but I don’t think that you and I ever met. It didn’t seem so then, but it was a great experience as I look back.
I have been practicing law here in Boston since returning home from Geermany, and life has been pretty good. I’m sorry that I am not familiar with the people or events that you mentioned, but it all seems like the old neighborhood back then.
I always wonder what happened to the guys that I served with.

      Paul

  13. I was there Aug. 1951.
