Searching for an old friend hope someone could help. His name is Donald Moore called Don or Donnie. He was stationed in Schwach with A-BTRY 2/59 till late 1990. Does anyone remember him? Please get in touch with me ,if you have any information on him. Thanks
I’m trying to help a German Frau who was saved from suffociation by an American soldier in March 1968 in Schwabach. I have been in touch with more than a dozen men who were in O’Brien Barracks in Schwabach at the time, and no one remembers this incident, where a GI administered mouth-to-mouth resuscitation to a baby who had somehow become entangled in her blankets in her crib. The “baby” is trying to find the man who saved her. Help! (She contacted me because I was in O’Brien Barracks in 1968, but I had left in January.) Any information would be appreciated.
Hello from West Virginia ! I was stationed at O’Brien Barracks, HHB 2/59 ADA 1st Armored Div from 1987 – 1990. I was with HQ Commo under SFC Mangam. Back in June of 2000, I took a vacation down memory lane & went back to Schwabach. It was great visiting my old haunts & watering holes, such as Moms Bar, The Treft Punct & The Harliquin. All the locals wished we were back, mostly because their local economy took a nosedive after all the GI’s were’nt spending their money in the town any more. I was shocked at the first sight of the old Kaserne. The barracks was housing for Bosnian refugees the locals told me. All the doors to the commo shop were welded shut & the lawn was 6ft high with weeds. The little PX in the center of the Post was’nt there, it was raised to the ground. I got to walk threw the old HHB Barracks again though. Walking past my old room on the 3rd floor remembering the sights & sounds of the past such as SFC Mangam, SSG Torres, or Sgt Moseley waking Spc Nelson, Paisley, & myself. I had a great time visiting the old memory lane of Schwabach those 2 weeks, Especially eating & drinking beer at George’s Bar ( Treft Punct ). Hopefully I will be able to visit again someday soon.
