I have a real Brother from the same man and mother, too . I adopted in 1968 . please contact me when you have something about John (R?) Powell Thank´s sharonwimmer70@gmail.com
I was stationed at Herzo Base from june 1971 thru aug 1973. Would like to hear from any one who remembers me I was a field wireman Capt Spano was the communications officer. I remember Dennis Rodgers the medic, Mike Barbour fromthe motor Pool (worm), Bob Coons , James Randall, and Sgt Skidmore . just to name a few.
I was with the 82nd Army Band, later the 3rd Armored Cavalry Band, from Feb. 1955
to thru Aug 1956. We were stationed in the Merrill Barracks Kaserne in the NW
corner, second floor, facing the street. Our rehearsal hall was just across the way from
the mess hall. We could see the World Congress Hall from the bathroom window.
When my wife arrived, we lived at 26B Scmassenbuckstrasse and later moved to the
new housing in Furth. She got a job working for special services which was housed in
the Palace of Justice where the war crimes trials were held.
At Monteith 2/55 thru 8/56 with B Co. and Hq and Hq Co. 39th Inf. A-A-A-0.
“Fighting Falcons” if I remember right (which is becoming harder and harder!). Being in the Security Police platoon, we were responsible for the little falcon mascot that had a cage just inside the gate. Another brilliant idea! There are some of us still around.
Does anybody know where I can buy american grocery? I am not a military member so I do not have access to the army but I have an american passport. Thanks a lot
Hallo Kerstin,
Schon mal ebay versucht? Ansonsten einfach googeln ..
You may want to contact Ramstein Airforce base. It’s a large U.S,base with a brand new shopping center. U.S.Army hospital Landstuhl is also a possibility.
Military retirees living in Germany are permitted to purchase items but are required
to pay German taxes. Kaiserslautern is still operational as a U.S. Army base. My son is stationed their as a civil servant.
Hope this helps.
Adolf
Hello Kerstin.
Depending where in Germany you live and how far you want to travel. Good chance that Grafenwoehr/Vielseck training area near Weiden in der Oberpfalz is still operational.
