I was stationed at 98th gen hospital from 1991 to 1994 and I worked in labor and delivery and I had the sad duty to be the person who locked the doors for good.I read some of the E mails and it warms my heart to know that we touched so many peoples hearts whlie having some of the best times of our lives. Most single NCO’S
stayed across from the hospital until they moved us to pinder barracks. We went from the Q CLUB to the wall and back, very good times .
Good Afternoon,
My name is Paul Chuites and I was stationed at the 130th 73′ to 75″ with a short duty with the 87th Med Det in Amberg. What a time in my life. The people I met and became friends with have not been forgotten. John Taylor, Mike Cameron, Cliff Mashburn, Gail, Becky, Paul Mumm, Ron Atencio, Max, Mr. B, Mindy, Billy, Pete, Marty, Jesse, Paul Fraizer and so many more. If any of you know how to contact these friends, could you please let me know. For those who where there in ’73 to 75 I’m sure you would agree, “It was the best of times” You would have to have been there to belive it!
Husband Scott Peterson called “Pete” worked down in the basement doing hearing tests at Nurnberg Army Hospital 1974-1975. We lived in Georg Hennch Strasse off base Ted Wilgenbusch lived down the hall. Had great fun! Great time! Both Scott “Pete” and Ted are both passed on now. Remembering Gil, Rick Sawyer, Mike Guillory, Mike Murphey. Several friends from Turkey, Sergei, Charlie and Tara. Alot of Tucher beer, hash, and big discussions on the Lord of the Rings back in the day!
I was born in a U.S. Army facility (not sure which one it would be) on November 12, 1952. My father Dr. M.D. Phelps, Jr. was First Lieutenant stationed with an armored division in Schwabach, and I’m told I was born nine months and one day after my mother arrived from the U.S. (My older sister was born nine months and one day from their wedding — they were efficient!) My dad was not career military and was simply serving out a two-year commitment he’d signed to complete med school during the war. So it was really a coincidence that I was born there. Still, I’d love to know more about where I came into this world. Anyone have any details on whether it would have been here? Or maybe a satellite field hospital in Schwabach?
My Mom and Dad (both now gone) told this story of my delivery. Her spinal anesthetic, administered by one of my Dad’s friends, was faulty and only took on one side. He good-naturedly complained it was, “…the most half-a$$ed procedure I’ve ever seen.”
Just left a comment on another web page and saw this also, so thought I’d leave my name and email address on this one…I served in 1955-1956 at the 16th Field Hospital in Nurnberg, so if anyone of you is old enough to remember the hospital before the name change (it was changed over and over until the end)….Thanks to whoever is responsible for this website….RC

So, I think I was born to be a punster.
