Oh well I’ll be walking ag (with a cane)before gas prices below $4 again ,or I can breath easy for my friend in the 75th Ranger/ SSpec OpsREGT AT lEWIS- mCORDcORD.I still yearn for the good old days flying with tjhe Eagles in track, baseball and basketball, … which was followed by duty with the infantry garrison in Berlin, a degree from colorado Uin Geology, work in oil exploration in the sSouthwest and a fine career as a software development project manager with IBM.
Wishing all clear skys and a good tail wind…God bless our country and watch over our troops.
I graduated from Nurnberg American High School in 1978 & was there for my entire High School experience. It was a once in a lifetime experience & I would not trade it for anything in the world. At first we lived in Ober Michelbach before we got military housing in Kalb behind the High School on John F Kennedy Strasse. My mother was originally from Germany so I grew up bilingual which was great when I went downtown with regular Americans, not that we were supposed to be in class.LOL I spent a year or so after school working in one of the mess halls on monteith barracks & spent a little while being a DJ in a couple of the NCO clubs.
I attended elementary school from 1956-1959,second thru fifth grade. I remember there being a dentist at the school and boxing in gym class. I also remember walking to the movies with my sisters. Also the gummy bear store. I’m onlysorry I was too young to realize what a historically significant area this was.
I graduated in ’68, worked at the PX on the 4th floor, in the print shop. Joined the USAF @ Rhine/Main AB in Frankfurt and left in Feb. ’69 for basic training @ Lackland AFB, TX. Also started 1st grade there in the back of the high school building in 1956. Such memories…
I lived across the street from Nurnburg High School. I went there from 3rd to 5th grade. January 1970 to January 1973. I loved it there. I remember walking through the High School building through little covered walkways to get to the building I went to.
71-78 ( graduated )……..most influencial era of my life no doubt. My mind travels back there frequently. Lived right across from school near laundromat. My dad was stationed at Johnson barracks and Darby. He and I raced vw’s on weekends at Monteith Barracks and other locations in Germany. Would be shocked to see how different it all looks now. I was good friends for a few years with Gary Johnson, Eddie and Liz Moore……Patrick Spitzer……..cant locate any of them.
I was there from 1988 til 1991 or 92 lol trying to remember. 8th til 10th grade. I do remember going to gummi store for lunch almost every day and also going to Franks Franks stand between the movie theater and the shoppette. I was also in Jr ROTC Aco 1Sgt. My locker was up on the 3rd floor. Feel free to contact me if anyone remembers me lol I had allot of great times there and would love to catch up with long lost friends. Wow, remember when desert storm started? The school was locked down and we had tanks and armed security patrolling the school grounds. Mr Mendoza was our vice principal, going to Darby to bowl for gym class. Bonfires. We had a pep rally for our basketball team and damn I forget the guys name but he dunked and shattered the backboard! Ah, good times. Hit knee up on Facebook id love to reminisce.
I attended Nurnberg High, in the 60′s, 1961-62, I stayed in the dorm, great times and a wonderful place to go to High School, my Father was in the army, and was stationed in Crailsheim at Ft. Mc Gee Barracks…I came accross a picture of my old alma mater on facebook, found an old classmate that had it in their picture files…brought back soooo many memories…Wow! couldn’t believe it, looked this posting up today to see if it was still around…
I attended the Elem school behind the HS there in Furth during 1960-63. Loved it and the area especially the field trips into Nuremburg and the surrounding area. Anyone remember Devil’s Cave or the YMCA at Wm O. Darby? My dad was stationed at Montique Barracks. Lived at 34 Jakob Wasserman Str. Made any friends I will always remember.
Attended NHS 1954 -1955 Freshman. Some people I knew were Peggy Pribble – Robert (Bob) Garret – Barbara McDermott German friend that visited NHS Wolfgang Lictenecker Memory vague about housing but I think it was Furth about 10 k outside of Nurnberg
I attended 7-11th grade at NHS from 1965 through June 1970 – one of those civilian kids that were there for many years. I remember buying popsicles for Mr. Wilson’s math classes at the convenience store a block away. Great times!

Aloha, I was Class of 1975 NHS graduate-Senior Class President, there from 1971-75. Have the best memories and still in touch with several alumni–will try to connect on Facebook! Will be in Germany in June for the birth of my first grandchild! Daughter is an Air Force Captain stationed at Ramstein AFB. So will try to do a side trip to Nurnberg! Loved Mr. Wilson and his classes! Learned a lot and went on several trips with he and his family–skiing mostly of course! Thank you evoking these memories!
I attended NHS from 1986-88. I remember when my mom worked there as the attendance lady. I used to sell Hall passes and Attendance slips to people. Lol!! What fun. The best part was the Gummi shop down the road from the school. Lunch everyday was a Leberkase sandwich and gummi candy galore. Can’t forget about the schnitzel sandwiches at NHS. I really wished that I could have graduated from there, instead I graduated as an Eisenhower Eagle.
