  1. 1969-1970 I was a Chaplain Assistant at the hospital chapel. Chaplains I served under were Col. John W.l Fritts and Capt. Peter Kent. I lived in the barracks there, second floor. Spent a lot of time in town, especially at Zum Sepp’l on the Hauptstrasse. Been back twice, in 1998 and in 2004. Much different now than back in the day. Hospital closing down for good in 2013. End of a great era for those of us who were there.

  2. 1984-1987 worked at social work service in the bldg next to the barracks and lived off base just around the corner.

    • I worked in the same building in 1973 and 1974 doing psychiatric screening. My wife joined me and we had a wonderful time for those two years. We lived in Plankstadt about 10 miles away. We traveled widely, learned to drink beer and loved seeing the castles.

  3. Hello, somebody can say me when there is again an event / party in 2012 in the barracks Mannheim or Heidelberg?

I found the event in Mannheim Always really property, above all food and drinking.

    Greeting Sven

  4. Hallo kann mir jemand sagen wann es wieder eine Veranstaltung / Fest im Jahr 2012 in den Kasernen Mannheim oder Heidelberg gibt ?

  5. Hello

I have gone ahead and published http://armykaserne.com/us/nachrichten-kaserne-heidelberg/ at Mister-Wong so my friends can see it too.
I simply used Nachrichten Kaserne, Heidelberg » ARMY KASERNE LOGS, US ARMY GERMANY as the entry title in my favourite bookmark, as I figured if it is good enough for you to title your blog post that, then you probably would like to see it bookmarked the same way.

    Best regards,
    Lorilee Vanvalkenbur

  6. Our first two kids were born at USAH Heidelberg (one 1960, one in 1962.) My unit was the 768th Med Det (DS). My duty stations were in Mannheim, but our HQ was at the hospital.
Hq USAREUR (or whatever they call it now) is moving to Wiesbaden. Recently read in the Hdbg newspaper that the hospital is being turned over to the U. of Heidelberg medical school, and that MTV and PHV will be used for student and faculty housing.
There was a photo of the German guy in charge of the takeover standing in one of the units at PHV. He was astonished at how much square footage there was in each apartment, but what really blew him away was the fact that there were closets; not free-standing Kleiderschränke, but CLOSETS!

  7. I was assigned to HHC 7th MEDCOM from 16 Dec 1985 to 10 Dec 89 as the armorer and supply sergeant and HQ 89th MEDDET(DS) from 11 Dec 89 to 12 Nov 92 as the supply sergeant

  8. Iwas stationed at the 130th Station Hospital in Medical
Maintenance from 1987 to 1990. Loved it there.

  9. Was stationed at HHC there from 70-72-was a staff driver very easy duty-lived off post-everything was cheap-grosse bier and schnitzel dinner about $2-absolutely wonderful time-should have re-upped and stayed another few ywars

  10. Was stationed at the 130th Station Hospital as a Mechanic in the Motorpool from Feb 1976 – sept 1979. Best assignment I ever had in 22 years of Army life.

  11. Hi stationed from 1992 / 1994 Patient Admin. Division SSGT(p)

    Reply if you remember me.

  12. Was there in Medical Maintenance from May 2001 – May 2004.

  13. 1964-1965 Assigned to the S2/3 just below the Officers Club. Down in the basement was the photo shop. Looking to find the young lady who was the clerk in the WAC detachment who stayed and married the young german gentleman who worked in the auto shop.
