  1. Does anyone remember my brother Bruce Dickinson. He went there between 1964 to 1968. He died in 1970?

    • My brother (David) and I attended Munich as dorm students. He was there from 1963 and graduated in 1965. I was there only for the 64-65 school year. Mr Damato was the dorm supervisor (I think). We lived in Oberammergau on the weekends, my dad was at the MP School at O’gau. It’s a struggle to recall anyone from those years.

  2. My brother Mike and I attended MHS in 1964 and 1965. We stayed in the school’s dormitory Sunday evening through Friday afternoon. Our father, who was a master sergeant in the Army, was stationed in Regensberg. We loved our time in Germany…it was really special because our great grandmother, grandparents, aunt, uncle, and cousins on our mother’s side of the family lived in Munich. When my father retired from the Army in 1966, we ended up in Minnesota, US of A. I was born in Munich, so you can imagine how I missed Germany! Auf Wiedershen

    • My father was a 1SG stationed in Crailsheim. I attended MAHS in late ’69 and stayed in the dorm too. Had a good time there. I recall playing pool in the boys dayroom. Took the train home every Friday, returning on Sunday. Once, on some holiday, we attended a Blood, Sweat and Tears concert in Munich’s Zirkus Krone Bau. We also took a day tour to Chiemsee (the Army still had a hotel there at that time). I often watched movies at the nearby movie theater in the housing area. I recall walking (so not too far) to a smaller post to visit a PX – but I can’t remember its name. Did Mr. Damato (or D’Amato ?) work at the dorm when you were there? Early ’70 I moved to the Stuttgart area with my parents and attended SAHS.

    • I was stationed in Munich at Henry Kaserne in 1960. I often went to McGraw Kaserne, which was near the American high school. I’m writing a book about my time in Germany, and I need help with some details of McGraw and the family housing in Perlacher Forest. Can you please respond to my e-mail address. Thank you.

    • Hi Raymond,

My father was stationed at McGraw Kaserne, from 1961-63.

I moved to Munich in 1962, from Ft. Hood Texas, and lived directly behind McGraw Kaserne, for almost 12 months. I attended Munich American High School, 62-63.

I went back to Munich last October for a Reunion with many other classmates from MAHS. We visited McGraw, and Perlacher, Family Theater, and the Houning areas.

I will be returning to Munich for two weeks, later this year. August 30, 2012, to attend an exhibition on Amerians living and interacting with the local German people, in and around McGraw, and Perlacher! GIESING DISTRICT!

      I am responding here, because your message did not show your email address! If you would like to contact me, mine is;

, without the brackets.. I am currently living in England. Feel free to write with any questions, and I may be able to help!

McGraw has changed considerably since we left! I took many photographs of the housing area, and some of the Kaserne!

      Best wishes,
      Ralph

  4. Hi Sue,
Remember Me? We were together in MAHS, 1962 – 63! You used to poke me with a pencil in American History Class, (Ms. Hanson), for the answers to questions during her tests.

I went back for a visit to Munich too! So glad you enjoyed the reunion!

    Are YOU still ‘THE GREATEST’?

    RALPH

  5. I attended MAHS 1962-64, graduated 1964, and I lived on FlemingstraBe in Bogenhausen. My father was Lt. Col. in SACom Ordnance. He was at Warner Kaserne first, then transferred to McGraw. Just attended a multi-class reunion IN MUNICH this past October (2011)! What fun!! First time I had been back since graduation. It was so good to see old friends and classmates again after almost 50 years (yikes! can it be THAT long??). I didn’t want to leave. Part of the reunion was at MAHS; it has changed some, but is now a lovely German elementary school, and the Principal is very nice. Munich has changed dramatically since early 60′s; is now a steel and glass city enveloping the old city. Will be going back again the end of this summer (2012) and can’t wait. Some German historians are doing an exhibition of Americans in Munich in the 50′s and 60′s, and gathered much information from the folks at the reunion. Exhibition will be at the Giesing Bahnhof starting September 6, 2012, and running for about a month.

  6. I was one of a few who graduated from the last class of MASH. Although I did not get to attend for the full year or two with everyone else, I would like to say they freinds I did make was great, I am looking for you. :) I wish my time in Germany would have longer but it was not but I do cherish every moment. Class of 1992 was the best.

  7. I was a student at MAHS during the years 65-67. (also attended elementary school there 67-60). We returned to the states at the end of the year in 67 and I graduated in 68 from Abingdon HS in Virginia. My daughter and her husband are being assigned to Wiesbaden in August. My plans are to make a trip back in the next year. I would love to hear form any old classmates who were there during those years.

    • I bet we were in school together. I graduated in ’68 and went through 1-12 grades. We were American civilians living “on the economy”. in Bogenhausen. There were about a dozen of us old times who spent most of our school years together. Oh the school bus rides to Perlacher were a trip. Remember zibeel, Henderson, English and Gleason.

I loved Munich and miss it.

  8. I attended Bad Kreuznach High School 1963-1964. Then over to Munich American High School for my senior year, graduating in 1965. My father was MSgt Ross Haver with the Engineer Battalion (don’t have the division). I remember our school chorus traveling to Berlin to perform with other schools. A side trip was to the Berlin Wall – still standing!

    • Traveled to BK Christmas of 1964 to see a friend, Cindy Seefield. Best time ever. Then took a train back to Munich.

    • email me if you can???

    • I graduated from MHS in ’65 and also took the trip to Berlin with the chorus. Remember the train ride? Going through the East Zone from Potsdam to Berlin the boys put Playboy pinups in the windows and tried to trade cigarettes for East german military hats! We sang Beethoven’s 9th with an orchestra and opera singers. I was new there in 64-65. I came from Nurnberg for my senior year.

  9. I attended MAHS from -63-65. Far too short a period. Was having too much fun. Barb,
there is the overseasbrats website, as well as munich high school on face book. tis difficult to find kids from the 50s , but there are some out there. good luck

  10. I attended Munich American School from 1950-1953, grades 6-8. I am trying to locate others who were in my class.
