I was in the 533rd from 83-86. I had many good times there and look forward to heading back for a visit. There is a 533rd facebook group for any body interested. Lots of folks there with many good memories.
In reply to Conny. I do remember Roy Goodrich and the Sgt you’re referring to I think, Is 1st Sgt Paulino Miguel. He is still living in Berchesgarten today and is 86 years old.
We have a Facebook page called P & A Bn with about 73 of us. We have made a little contact with Roy who I think lives in Arizona but he is not on Facebook and does not respond much. Bill Sutherland has talked with him I believe.
Amazing to see many names from the past on here regarding Michael’s Barracks. Was there with 856th ASA from about March ’78 to August ’80 as a 98G Ru. LTs Taormino and Chastain come to mind and of course then SSG Billy Schaefer. Often wonder what happened to Bill but heard he made it to Sgt Major which sounds about right– he was a great guy. Great experiences at Michaels and great memories.
I was stationed at Michael barracks March 21-71-June 21-72. I was a printer and ran the unit PX from July 71-june 72 when I left with a guy–named Mike Meyers I think. Henry Slovacek was my roommate before and after my wife came and left. Greg Perez-Bob Zbylut and Mel from Omah, Neb area. A guy we call Stock–stocky built guy–used to smoke the germans with the deuce and a half. Kent Mason was the boss over the print shop-a capt–I think-maybe major–Sgt Goldsworth was our NCO in charge of all Jaegermeister and printers
I was there for the last two years of Farpac, 74 to 76 or so, till we moved to the IG Farben, downtown. Would like to have mails from anyone that was there during that time…Thanks!
Was stationed at Michael Brks from March 1977 thru Nove 1978 as 05H in 1st Plt 856th ASA Company. Served with alot of great guys! Tugboat Daniels, Michael Schaeffer, Gary Swank/Swink, alot of good guys!
I remember you from that time. I was the 1st Platoon Leader and before that Service Platoon in the 856th from 1976-1978 before moving to 3D Armor Division SSO, Gary Swink was my driver. I now live in Munich, Germany. I ran into Lou Gaudio while we lived in Northern Va. DO you know whatever happened to Gary, I heard Daniels became a lawyer. I am a Partner with Accenture in now back in Germany for the first time since we were in Germany in the 1970′s.
We have an 856th ASA group on facebook. Both myself and Tugboat Dannels are in the group as well as many others. Send me a message at ghumphrey1@verizon.net for more info.
I was stationed there about the same time. I was with HQ Co 533rd MI Bn. Worked in Sig Maint Platoon under Sgt Nurre. Our time there over lapped only one year in 88. Also worked with SSG Lohrmann and Sgt Golden. Roomed with Spec 4 Sherwood
I was stationed at Michael Barracks from Jan 59 – Jan 61 with the 547th Medical Company (Clearing). I loved that place. I married a lady from Hochst and we go back every few years for a visit. There isnt much left of Michael Barracks now. Most of it has been demolished and turned into a German housing area, even the Motor Pools…. everything gone. I have some photos of what it looks like now if anyone is interested….

I was there at maybe the same time as you although I apologize I don’t recall your name. I arrived in May 1972. I played on the softball team with Rick Matney, Jerry Michael, Dwain Thompson, Randy Clark, Mike Fallon to name a few. We have a Facebook page called P&A Bn. There are 32 of us. Most of us served together in 1973 and 1974 but there may be some you know. Just a reminder there were two Tony Leone’s in our unit. The “other” Leone got in trouble a lot and was there before me. I am not that guy.
hi there, would you maybe remember a guy, named Roy Goodrich? He was an offset-printer at Michael Barracks and my fiancé at that time. The first Sgt. was a nice guy from Samoa, later moved to live in Berchtesgarden with his German wife. I forgot about his name, but he was short, nice and could be quite tough on everyone, lol………
