Hello to All!!
My father was CW3 Cornell Dumbravo the Service Section Chief for 182nd Maint Co 313 BN at Merrell from 1/70 to 5/75. Anyone who knew him, ever so slightly, give a shout out!! I showed him the pics this morning and he nearly got tears in his eyes. I was a student at the American High school in Furth and got to be friends with alot of my brother Paul’s (GI) buddies who were MPs at Darby and SPs at the American Hospital. My name is Cindi. I spent more time with you guys than I did school. Sitting out on the grassy area beside the cafeteria and all around town. I ended up getting a GED about 7-8 years later because you guys made life so interesting at that time, that well, guess what happened…I don’t remember going to class much. Now, life is different, many memories to think back on and wonder did that really happen, did I really go there, what ever happen to you know who??? Well, the tide can turn in another direction. For the last 29 years I have helped others that are like I was once, as a nurse that works in the area of Addictions at a world known hospital in Baltimore (JHH). Go figure. So any of you out there who think they may know me or (my awesome, very vibrant at 88 Dad), send me an email at cindicurtis@gmail.com.
I was a medic with HHB 3/5th FA from 1984-85.
I have great memories of Merrell Brks and Nurnberg. The clubs, “The Rock House”, “Jacquelyns”The Superfly”, “The Forty-Niner”, “The Moonlight”(afterhours, I swear everyone in there was drunk, including the waitresses and DJ) and who can forget “The Green Goose”. Hanging out at the “Dykes” during fest time in the beer tent. Patching up drunk GIs at the dispensary.Seems like we lived in “Graf” with the Big Boar Hogs. I went back to Germany in 2005 for a big war game at Graf and of course “You can’t go home again”. Your mind still expects things to look the same and it doesn’t. Time waits for no one, But we still got our memories……..
I was there the last half of 1951, all of 1952, and January of 53. Have a lot of good memories of the food and the beer and the free streetcars. I sold my coffee and cigarettes downtown for spending money. I lived on the 4th floor. I was stationed in Regimental Headquarters 2nd Armored Cavalry. I was a CW operator. We were the NCS station of our net and we reported to Stuttgart which was the NCS of the Army. I visited in 1990 and went through it when it was still occupied by our troops. I’d like to go back again someday.
I went to Nurnberg High school at Merrell Barracks. Does anyone knows the APO address there at Merrell Barracks. Please email me if anyone knows, cause I need the APO address for my security back ground check.
I would surely appreciate anyones help.
Thank you, florendoserafin@yahoo.com

I met wonderful Germans and Americans during my tour in Germany with a group called “KONTAKT” Looking for Germans and Americans who were in the group. Please e-mail me.
i remember some good times and some bad times. i like to remeber the good ones and forget the bad ones. i always enjoyed marios for the great food and beer and who can forget christa (marios wife). i will never forget tucher beer which was the best beer in germany as far as i am concerned. especially tucher sandwiches (1 tucher in between two more tuchers) i believe a friend of mine coined that phrase.

I was young, learning to drink and party, what a place to learn. Had a German friend that would get me and a couple buddies into ‘off limits’ bars. It seems so distant now, but the memories are forever burned into my memory. I’m married to a beautiful German woman and we visited Nurnberg in late 2008, she tried to talk the guy at the front gate into letting us in, to no avail. I could see the exact room I spent most of my time in. Wondering where all my buddies are now.
I was a Spec4 assigned to HHT 2ACR at Merrell Barracks from 72-73, then to the 1/2ACR at the ROCK in Bindlach until 74. I rode with the Iron Horses MC out of WODK in Furth from 72-75. Looking for former members of the IHMC – Chuck Spicer, Andrew Justice, Don Whisenant, Ken Dowd, John Moyer, and anyone else that was with the IRON HORSES MC.
