HI, everyone. I am Jack Thompson. I was stationed in Bad Hersfeld in ’71-’72. I was part of A Company, 3d Recon Squadron, 14th Armored Calv. I just found this page, and think it is great. Just for giggles, does anyone remember my CO., the one who ordered the removal of the M-47 tank from the Graffenwier firing range, or the Lieutenant who commanded the M-88 (VTR) that pulled said tank? I was riding in a Red-Eye (Commo) jeep on the return trip.
Remember Ricci. We were in M Troop together. If I recall he was from Baltimore, or somewhere in Maryland. I left in Feb. of 61. Never kept in touch. He was a fun guy to be around, always kept us laughing.
Hi there!Does someone know anyone who lived in the brandenburger str.27 in bad hersfeld?!
I am a neighbor of this house and we had some friends within the army guys. I can’t remember their name so i cant even search on facebook or anything..
That adress sounds so familiar to me. I think we lived on that street, however that was many years ago, My dad was stationed there 1964-65. We lived on the Economy on that street for awhile before we got quarters. I do remember our Land Lady’s name was Frau Renelett (spelled wrong more than likely) Was there a grave yard across the street somewhere in that area?
15th maintenance 82-84. Have been trying to find a howard strait, richard martin, or any of the other guys i was stationed with. Anyone have any ideas how i can find them lunatics. I have been through every social site i can find. And by the way, it was a very interesting place to be stationed, and a hell of a lot of fun.

I was stationed there from 1977-1984, first with L Trp, and then with Border Ops. Had friends Jim Serio and Jim Griffin in L Trp. Was supposed to be transferred to Ft Bliss in Dec ’80, but, got to Frankfurt and got reassigned to the MI safehouse in Eschwege. Had plenty of good times at the Antek downtown. Broke up with girlfriend Dagmar Luhmann shortly before leaving. Never tried to reconnect. Miss the good ole days there. Currently working for intelligence agency in Williamsburg Va. Nice talking to you guys.
I was born in Muenchweiler, Germany. Then we returned in 1965 to Bad Hersfeld for 3 1/2 years. My father was a first class master sargeant John R. Marks, Jr. who served proudly for his country. We really loved Germany, the food, the people, etc. We traveled to France, Italy, and Swiitzerland. To this day i have beautiful memories.

I was with Duke, Stanley Dallas, Robert Whitaker, and others. We had an unstoppable team and had just made it to the finals against Sgt Malone and Howell Btry. We should have won the championships but without Duke we lost by a few points. He was our X factor. Unstoppable down low and the greatest guy you could know. I must say, I miss him along with a few other soldiers that all supported him. He was a good friend.
(HHT, PAC) We had basketball teams then? LTC Cherrie had pretty much closed up all extra-curricular activities from ’81 to ’84. Hell, the gym was even closed for about 18 months to remodel in the ’82-’83 timeframe, since they had contract disputes with the German contractor. Still kinda ticks me off 30 years later.
