  4. Hello There good that you still up to date and can find the soldiers out of Mainz (Finthen/Gonsenheim/and other barracks). end of 1981/82

    I ´m looking for this one Soldier who dated my Mother Elke Ortiz Rosario with 2 children out of the housing in Gonsenheim at the end of 1981 untill January/February1982 long time but I never quetioned..but now I ´m turning 30 and I just wanne know more about my American Roots…

    he had to leave Germany…dont know what was the problem but in one night you was hold by the MP and then Mum was with him by the MP…after a long talking with your First Sgt and the MP you left with her. After that day you had to go back to the state (driving without lisence?) there was one call to Germany after you arrieved in the states where she was really upset…then she never heard from you again…
    May the community know him and the story…

    • Hello Larry, my is Rick A. I was stationed in Gonsenheim, Germany from 1975 to 1979. I stayed in Mainz-Weisbaden for about 30 yrs. Lee barracks is gone. The barracks are housing for the the people there. The bowling alley i would go in every now and then. I really can’t remember any one from there. I was there.

  7. I was at Lee Barracks in ’80 – ’81 CSC 4/69 AR. My PLT SGT was SSG William “Rock” Dickerson. Had a pretty good time there.

  8. I was stationed at lee Barracks from 1977 – 80. I was in S-2 to start. Roomed with Sgt. O’dell and a Crazy guy named Green. I moved on toAlpha Co. 2/87 after too much drinking went on. Moved over to HHC 2/87 once I decided I didn’t want to walk any more. Good times at La Bastille, and EVERY NCO Club I could find.

  9. I was a SGT/Medic stationed 85-88 @ Lee Barracks, had a hellava gr8 time there with some good peeps! If this jogs anybodys memory, I was the Head Basketball Coach of the Mainz Mustangs Mens Team 87-88 season. That was the season our womens team won it all…… Hit me up on facebook if you served during that time…..

  11. was with 708 mt bn attached to 509 inf 69-71 airborne all the way got to see europe the army sucked but germany was great rember the crazy sexy in frankfort? lots of fun parachuting into sugar beets and hearing the air screaming from 141 starliner pulling deployment bags back in 3 months in graf living in unheated dump playing in the snow yea sucky duty rember the cobble stone roads on base? I lived over the dispensary under the medics too many drugs for me

    • I was in a co. 4-69 with you . i was the unit armorer . sgt breen and spc. hahn was in the supply room . do you remember shanahan or castillo ? i have been in contact with them . cpt. st. pierre was on a sight called travel advisor . i dont know if you remember robert crain but im also been in contact with him .

    • Hey Ray Moore i havent heard that name in years, i remember boykin he was on my tank for a long time. This is M. Kennedy do you remember Neiderer 3rd plt sergeant and thie the first segereant. I remember you and Jackson and that crazy one who used to run to Darmstadt in his volvo think his name was Ray. Hope life has been good to you, drop me a line.

    • I remember some of these names, I started off on sfc tonkin tank , then became Capt. driver.

  13. I worked in Finance under the HHC 2/28 Inf mess hall and Finance Inprocessing under the 2/87 Inf mess hall from 1984 – 1984. Chances are if you inprocessed during this time, I had a brief conversation with you and had something to do with processing your pay.

  14. Yup, I was there Nov ’72 to Feb ’75. Originally in the 509th, but remained and became a part of 2/87th. I was in Co C 2nd battalion. I was there when they renovated the whole place. Originall in the first east buiding from entrance, moved to the main bldg, then to the first bldg to the west. Time of my life. Have kept in touch with a few buddies. Would like to hear from more. I worked in the Orderly Room as a legal clerk, then at batallion headquarters. Drop a line if we worked together. 36 years ago. My oh my.

    • I was there from ’72-’74 in the 1st of the 509th, also was there when it switched to the 2/28th infantry. Have been back there several times, big change. I was a Sgt. when I left in Sept. ’74. Good to hear from fellow airborne veterans!

  15. I was stationed at Lee Barracks 82–85.I was with CSC 2/87 inf.I loved the beauty of Germany!!Had the time of my life going to all the concerts,,like for Monsters of rock ’85′!!!!

    • I was in the 2-87 Scout Platoon from 82-86. Your name sounds familiar.

Folks I remeber the most,,,you, Brookes, Hamton,,,I have something to say here: Germany was the best thing in my life!!!and I would not change my age!   16. I was stationed there from 1960 – 1961 as part of a “legs” unit (not paratrooper unit).
    Part of my group were Phillipe Rodriquez (CA.), Ralph Dearing (Indiana), Ralph Kelly(N.H.), Bill McDonough (MI.), and Chet Soberay (PA.). The writer is from MD.
    As a group, we were a radio-code section, and the unit was for repair of missiles.
    The unit disbanded in June 1961 with most of us going to Camp Pieri across the Rhine River in Wiesbaden where I remained until 2/62.

  17. IF I REMEMBER RIGHT PLANT ,YOU WERE THE CO’S DRIVER. I WAS IN SFC LEMMONS PLT.C.CO 2/28 HE LEFT SHORTLY AFTER I ARRIVED. I THINK IT WAS 2ND PLT. WITH CPL HUNT SSG. DOMINGUEZ,SSG.DAVIS JOHN WRIGHT,BERTRAM ROLLE,.LEWIS KENNEMORE RALIEGH FARMER,GARLAND HORTON, I HUNG AROUND WITH TOSADO AND ALOT AT FIRST. I ARRIVED IN JANUARY OR FEBRUARY OF 77 SO YOU MAY NOT REMEMBER ME .CAPTAIN BILTER WAS THE C.O 1RST SERGANT WAS VELEZ.
