  2. Hi,

I just got off the phone talking to an old Army buddy, Rick Oros. We were stationed in Schwaebisch Gemuend assigned to Hq Battery 4/41st FA from July 1969-Dec1971. It was great reminiscing about our days there and all of our old buddies. If anybody was there around the same time, send me an e-mail. Great memories from our bygone days in Germany with the PERSHING.

  3. Hello guys,

I´m originally from Schwäbisch Gmünd. Born in 1981 I can remember well the US Army driving through our village, and, after the US Army left most parts of Germany, one of my favorite “playgrounds” were the storage bunkers close to Waldstetten.

If you have any questions about Gmünd don´t hesitate to ask.

    Alex

  4. I was stationed at Hardt Kaserne (61-65) and served with 3/17th and 35/56th Gps. Married a girl from Aalen and retired in 1989. Lots of pleasant memories. I was S-1 and Legal Clerk and Btry Clerk for HHB, 3/17th before they moved to Nurnberg. Also attended NCO Academy at Bad Tolz.

  5. I was stationed at Hardt from 74-76. REmember Hump SGT Harris from the motor pool Sparky Dennis Johnson and numerous others. Just stumbled on this site today. Anyone remember any of these people.

    • I left Service battery in January 1975. Some of the names sound familiar. I remember a guy who died driving a wrecker but can’t remember his name. I do remember riding with him when we nearly lost it going down the hill when he hit the brakes for the sharp curve. The wrecker was sideways one way then the other, but somehow he got control back. Think he died when he got called out to Graf in the middle of the night. If I remember right, he had a truck on the back and was heading back in with it.

    • My husband James M. (Mike) Coomes was stationed there 1973-1976. We lived off base in downtown Schwabisch Gmund for a while then moved out to the country. Loved it there! Would love to get in touch w/others that were there then. I can remember Bill Emmerling, Kevin Dwyer, Ron Williams, Nick Foradis, Tuddy Flores, Steve Guynes and Ed Becker.

    • I know a guy who was in Schwabish Gmund in 1952, unk if Hardt or Bismark, I can try to find out. He said he was in an artillery unit, called them eight inch bore that reached 20 miles with 100 yard accuracy. I remember he said he was in……..426th or 428th (?) FA Brigade…does that ring a bell?

    • Herb,

My father, Clarence Merlyn “Munk” Bridgewater, was in the 599th FA BTN as a mechanic 52-54. I am researching his military service to build a shadow box for his 81st birthday. I am having issues as to the uniform insgnias and emblems that an enlisted person would be authorized to wear.
