  3. 22 chem from 84-85. Loved every minute of it. Best beer and wurst in town, right outside the front gate.

  4. I was in the 92nd Trans from August 1980 to Feb 1982. I painted the sign with the Ford Maverick for the front of our motor pool. I don’t have a single picture of it. I am looking for anyone that may have a pic of it, even if it’s in the background of another pic. Please reply here and we will exchange contact info.

  5. 92nd Transportation Company (CAR) Nov 1976-April 1979. 1SG Maxwell and 1SG Art Kalt. Commanders CPT Merrill Messick and CPT Talmadge Ward. Bunch of 64C’s and 63B’s. Great times with great people. Rick Keebler, Jeff Van Winkle, Ron Morrison, Lenny Moore, Donal Ginter, Beverly & Rick, Charlie Pate, and so many others that I cannot remember at this time. Vividly recall the 92nd Trans bowling league, flag football, basketbll and softball games, break time at the snack bar playing the pinball machine. Spent many a nights in the Gibbs lounge, thanks SGT Harris for operating this facility.

    • Rick And Bev Larson WOW i lived with them for a time I remember it all I have some pictures of our softball team and flag football team. Do you remember Jeff Pyatt and larry Belton

    • Sorry I was there from 78 / 82

    • Yes, Jeff and Larry I remember well. It’s a shame I didn’t take a lot of pictures. Those were some good old days. I recall in my early years there the daily urinalysis test for Smolar who should have been given a golden cup as much as he was tested.

    • If you are on facebook i could upload some pics I have some at the motorpool and lots in our rooms. I rememder being in one of the party rooms when we got raided i think they found like 15 soda cans bent in half used as well you know why we bent cans. I am trying to think of other names like Brian Shipman Mike Early. there were some cooks too like Rusty. and how about all of the concerts

    • Unfortunately, I do not have a facebook account at this time. As for concerts, I probably only went to about ten during my tour. I specifically recall where Van Halen opened for Black Sabbath. Apparently, the crowd liked Van Halen better that night and started chanting their name while Black Sabbath was playing. I recall the drummer throwing his drum sticks in the crowd and leaving the stage.

  10. OH MY GOD, WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO THIS PLACE?! I was at Gibbs with the 4th TransCom in 1981 – 1982. And I guess I had always assumed the buildings would still be chalk white, with the grounds properly policed up, and the guards still standing at the gate, signaling the traffic in and out… and retreat behing sounded in the evening… We were up on the fifth floor and would often sit out on those narrow roofs drinking beer and smoking, watching the strassenbahns pass by…

Anybody remember the little german beer stand just outside the barracks entrance with the plastic crates full of warm koernersberg beer?

    • It was right across the street from the Schnell Imbiss that had a great curry-wurst. We used to get one and hop the train to th PX or down to Sachsenhausen
