  9. Reading these brought back memories. My dad, an Army Dentist, was stationed at the CDL (Central Dental Lab now known as RDA’s) in the Nuremberg area. I was a little kid and went to the elementary school and my late older brother, John Moody, graduated from the NAHS in 1963. We lived on Beethoven Strasse in Dambach from 1960-1963. My main memories are the Kriskindlemart (which I would love to see again someday) and the Corps of Engineers flooding the basketball court so we could ice skate. I have old photos, actually slides, my dad took all those years ago. Thank you for the memories.

  10. I arrived at Emery Kaserne on Jun 16, ’61 with a HAWK Missile Battery, A/6/52. I left there in May of 1965. HAWK was very good to me. Al Garrett

  11. im looking for anyone that was stationed in kirchgoens, germany 1982, with 2/36 infantry

  12. Please add Camp Bloomquist in Ziegenberg, Germany. Ziegenberg is located on the Usa river due west of Bad Nauheim. Camp Bloomquist was home to the 68th Medical Group after its reactivation in 1978. Initially the facility was just called Ziegenberg, or the “Post” until the Group had the facility named after a decorated Med Evac pilot. The facility was originally construction as a motor pool as part of the comand complex for the German army prior to the invasion of France. The facility was once again used as part of the German army command complex during the “Battle of the Bulge” and was the last command complex Hitler was in prior to his final return to the Fuerher Bunker in Berlin in 1945. The command complex, centered on Ziegenberg Castle, was destroyed in Mar/Apr 1945 by heavy US bomber strikes; however, because the motor pool was located well south of the rest of the command complex, and did not look like a military facility, it survived the bombing fairly intact. After the 68th Medical Group was relocated to Wiesbaden AB, Camp Bloomquist became the home to an Explosive Ordance Detail unit.

  13. There was a little known place called the Reichel Kaserne or, Reichel Building, which served as a HQ for 7th Support Command and the 54th Area Support Group. It was located in Rheinberg, FRG, about 100kms north of Dusseldorf. The kaserne was established in 1982 when the Brits removed a vast number of their troops from Northern Germany to return to England for movement and support during the Falklands conflict. The Reichel was a 10 story building that was once a corporate headquarters for a rug manufacturing and shipping operation that went out of business. I am not sure of the date but military operations ceased sometime in the mid 90′s. There were no barracks and all soldiers had to live on the economy. It was quite an experience for everyone who was assigned to that kaserne.

  20. The 33rd Missile Detatchment (Honest John rockets) was stationed at the Belgian Kaserne MOORSLEDE, at Cologne-Dellbrück certainly in 1960 (already before) up to at least 1964 (and longer).
I was a Belgian cpl (vol.) and my best friend was a US Sgt Bob (Robert) Eagle from Viper Kentucky.
I think he returned to the US in 1964 just before I left Germany. At that time there was a Lt Bird, a SM Salazar and a Keller.
I would like to tace him back, we had a fine time together.
Can someone find out were he lives &at the moment? Thanks in advance!
