I was stationed at Bismark Kaserne from 1963 to 1965. I was in B Btry on the 155 base piece. My section chief was Sgt. Smotherman. I was the driver of the M109 and became the assitant gunner. Made over 6 FTX and to Graf 8 times. Also was envolved in Big Lift as a driver. We hung out in Bloomenshines ( not sure of spelling) We had three 155 btrys and obe 8″ btry. One of my commanding officers was Capt. Walker. Visited Bismark Kaserne in 2002 and at that times it was the University of Maryland. Got a chance to see my old room and also went up to Hart Kaserne which at the times was some sort of foreign army post. Some of the guys I was stationed with were Ronald Ferguson, Holloway, Derosa from Brooklyn, NY.

Sir:
I recently read your reply to my neice, Maggie, on the 56th FA history page. I can’t express my appreciation for the kind words. My father always struck me as a caring man and one determined to help others know their worth and help them grow both professionally and professionally. Again: thank you for caring enough to answer Maggie and remembering the impact “Hard Hank” had on others! He died on May 9th, 2008 and is now buried in Arlington with my mom.

I was at Bismark Kaserne, 4th Battalion, 41st Artillery, Battery A from Jan 67 to Jul 68. I was the company clerk and main beer drinker. I remember Spencer Carlson, David Lewis, Sgt Hutchinson, Capt David B Rodman, Lt Hart and a few others. If you were there, shoot me an eMail at jasman1947@hotmail.com and we’ll shoot the e-breeze. I have some pictures and would like to view yours. I remember a hulk of a man named ‘Wilkerson’. Wonder what ever became of him. This is James Rigney signing off…hope to hear from you!

Does anyone remember a soldier named James F. Clark? He would have been stationed at Bismarck between 66 and 68
