I´m living in Aschaffenburg and looking for somebody called “Willie jr. Henderson”.
Does anybody know him???
I know that he was based in the casern in aschaffenburg (i think the jaeger-casern but i`m not sure) and it was around 1984 – 1988.
I also know that he was from california (los angeles) and he was born in august 1966.
It would be awesome if anybody can help me!!! Cause i don`t know where i can get informations!
if anyone knows anyone who was in Dco 1/4 inf in Fiori 85-87 let me know. This is old Sgt Vega speaking. Border Augmentation Duty, PLDC, Graf, and so on and on.
I was stationed in Ready from 7/60 until 1/63 (got extended due to Cuban missle crises and Berlin Wall construction). I was in Commo platoon, HQ company. I revisted A’burg in May 2007 and yes most of the building have been replaced with businesses. BG HQ building, HQ Company barracks, Admin building and the guard shack were still standing but the weeds (and trees) had taken control of the area and all buildings were terribly vandalized (I did remove a wall outlet from my former room and brought it home as a souvenir). However, I understand that at that time (May 2007) the US Army still owned those buildings and turned them back to the Germans in late 2007. Perhaps they, too, have been torn down now or maybe, dare I hope, they have been rehabbed.
The German’s have re-habbed several of them, but a few have fallen to the wrecking ball. The one L-shapped guard shack that was part of the HQ’s complex has recently had all the trees and weeds removed. HOPING it gets preserved – but nothing has been posted yet about ambitions….
wait and see…
I was one of the last Soldiers to leave Aschaffenburg. I got there and we received orders to close the post Sad day. My Wife and I loved the post housing and The indoor Mall.
