  2. I was station at Muenchweiler, Germany at the age of 18 with Co.A 97thQm.Bn. from Jan. 1970 to July 1971. I started as a Pfc ration/troop driver for the Hospital Mess hall. Then A company mail-clerk as a Sp4, did my last 5 months in country as A company’s CO driver. That year and a half helped me to grow up. Had some good people in that complex.Meet a few very nice ladies over there, too.

  3. My Dad was stationed in Muemchweiler from 1955 to 1958. at the hospital as an E-7 medical records NCO. We lived on base from 1956 to 1958. Such a beautiful area back then. I have many pictures of the base including the housing area. Would love to go back some day. But I’m 65 now prospects are slim. Loved the area.

    • I was stationed as an Army cook in the 225 Sta. hospital from 1958-1959/60. I would love to see photos. Is your father still living? I wonder if we knew each other.

    • Jerry, the entire facility is gone now. I went back in 2009, and the last two buildings (the chapel and one of the family housing units) were in the processed of being demolished. It was basically a demolition/construction site, with a few new houses being built. Even the streets were gone, though a few new ones were already in place for the new development going on.

    • My dad was stationed at Pirmasens 68-70, but we lived in Munchweiler. I can’t believe it is gone! I would love to see your photos. Can you post them or send them?
We used to make fun of the families, dressed in their Sunday ‘best” tramping in the woods. I loved the area. I wish I had more photos.

  4. I lived there from 1958 thru 1963,off base apartments in a german village nesr by! But I only have very few photos of the area from that time period. Some from June 1962, I graduated from the Muenchweiler Nursery School, post nursry school, May29,1962.The Post Commander then was Paul R. Staley. Anyone out there have pictures from that time period or went to that nursery school then? I do have some photos of our nursery school class and the teacher was Dorothy A.Bloomer.

  5. i was stationed in muenchweiler in a electronic outfit., usa claibration unit from 1965 to 1968. it used to be an army hospital, it was great, had a private room with its own bathroom & crankup bed

    • Mark, I may have lived in that same room in 1979. It was at the end of a hallway, and had a huge, deep bathtub…the faucet stuck out of the wall on the side, not from the end. It was a great place to thaw out after walking a dog in sub-freezing weather all night long. As far as I know, it was the only room in our barracks (636th Ord Co) with a private bath.

  6. I was with the 110th MP Company from 1989-1990. I was there for Golden Python then transferred to the 6th MP in Muenster-Dieburg

    • I too was born at the 225th in Munchweiller, May, 1964. I was also fortunate to revisit the area in 1979 while it still existed. I may have some photos of the area from either the 60′s or 1979. I’ll have to search.
