Hi everyone. I served at the 97th from ’67 to ’68 before being sent to Vietnam. Started out as a lab tech, but found a more interesting job working the information desk. The fondest memories of my life revolve around my time at the 97th.
If some of you are wondering about the current status of the 97th, the colors have been folded and the building is now the US Consul, Frankfurt. Alas, the big red crosses are gone. Check Google Earth to see the changes in the old barracks area. Replaced by new apartment buildings and a Best Western Motel
Looking For Randy Westgate E-4 Army stationed at 97th General Hospital 1979 ?? to 1982. He was a good medic. Used to call him Overaaa. He can contact me at markius1959@Hotmail.
My son, Ross Masters was injured in Afghanistan and taken to the Army Hospital in Frankfurt around The first of February, 2012, just a week or so ago. How can I find his condition? No one from the Army has called me.
My younger brother was born there in 1961, David Edward Settle. I was also a patient for 30 days or so, had the German Measles. I was 2 or 3 years of age at the time. Does the military still have records of my brothers birth? And the illness I had required blood transfusions. I need those records for blood work, it’s very important!!!
The records that you are searching for should be with you father’s military records at the National Military Records Center in St. Louis, MO. You will need his name, branch of service, service number/ssan to have the records located.
I want to check on the condition of Captain Steve Robinson with the US Army who was wounded in Kubal Afganastan and brought to the hospital for treatment there in Frankfurt. To be given 6 mos leave January 2012.

I was one of 2 OB’s there at that time. I think the other was Capt. Morgan. I would have been there July 1956 until maybe December 56 when I was transferred (against my will ) to Berlin where I stayed to 58. You may have my fingerprints on you ankles!
Hello,My Father was a Officer and we were Stationed in Germany from 1954-1963.We lived at Palttenstasse army Housing. In 1959 I was diagnosed with Leg-Perthes DiseaseI was 6 yrs old. My Mom ha to leave me at the Hospital,I didnt know what was going on, I was scared to death.I will never forget the Nurse who took care of me,She was a blond german girl and she was so nice and gental,to me,she made me feel safe and secure,She got me some cream of wheat, and turned on the record player. The song playing was ” Home Home on the Range”. I always think of her when I hear that song.I doubt I will ever find out her name, or where she is from. But I can honestly say that I have meet an Angel in my lifetime. I will always remember her kindness and how gental she was. I am 58 yrs old now still think of her.
I was an 05C10 radio-teletype operator, one of a two-man team attached to the Transportation Movements Office, Frankfurt (located directly across the street from the hospital, very close to the NCO club). I lived in the Gibbs Kaserne in 1981-1982.
After a while we were given access to the mess facility in the Frankfurt GI Hospital, and it was a far cry from the slop offered up daily at the Gibbs Kaserne mess hall, let me tell you! ha ha We ate like kings at that hospital mess hall.
It’s been 30 years since I left Frankfurt and I am reminded of my age now as I scan through the other internet locations with the search words “Gibbs Kaserne, Frankfurt Germany”. The barracks are all pretty much gone, converted into apartments, the main building (with the eagle) is still there, but it’s crowded by construction equipment, dumpsters, temporary fences, etc.
Quite a nice historical salute to the GIs that kept Germany from being invaded by the soviet union during the cold war!
I remember the area all to well and really miss it. I was assigned to the 2/48th in Gelnhausen, and I was a 36K and later on I became a 72E. Anyway, I had some friends stationed there that I knew. I have to say it was a nice place to be assigned. I hope to hear from you.
I was in ( I believe the Ameila Arhart Hospital ) back in the late 70′s and I am looking for the address of the Hospital for Records . If Any one could help me , I would Love to hear from you.
If you were born in the Frankfurt Army Hospital and you father or mother was in the military, you will have to apply for your birth records thru the National Military Records Center in St. Louis, MO.
